Thanks a lot

Hi everyone! I had a few minutes yesterday afternoon and decided to play around with the following sketch and color combo from Crazy 4 Challenges.

The colors were really hard to match with just the right cardstock. It was a lesson in compromise, that's for sure.

I die cut the flowers from cream cardstock and then colored them with a R81 and added strokes of highlights using R83 Copic's. Leaf die is from Memory Box.

All of the other dies are from MFT except the stitched scalloped border which is from Pretty Pink Posh and comes with three stitched borders in the pack. You can see it here.

Sentiment is from Verve. I added some stenciling onto the aqua banner using a stencil from Memory Box. I did end up adding some white embossing powder and heat setting it so that it would stand out. Then I added some graph detail using a background stamp from MFT.

OK, that's it for the day! We are off to the Beach!

Winter scene

Hello! I made this for the sketch challenge going on over at CAS colors and sketches, you can find the link here.

Instead of using the oval as the focus point I went with the tree. Which is stamped on vellum and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. I just fussy cut it out and popped it using foam tape. Stamp is from Stamps by Judith.

The border die is from Frantic Stampers. I added foam tape onto the back of this so that it stands out a bit from the snow scene. The snow flying around is done using versamark, white embossing powder and an old stamp from The Angel Company.  Sentiment is from PTI.

I'm not sure I'm liking my choice of cardstock for the base. It's a blue gray and if I do this again, I think I'll go with a truer blue.

Wishing you

Hi all! Here is my take on this weeks Freshly Made Sketch. I departed from it just a bit which is unusual for me.

The mesh is a die from Cherry Lynn Designs. I cut two of them and then overlapped them to create the rectangle. Green scalloped border and flower dies are from My Favorite Things.

Added a black button from American Crafts and then tied a bow using ivory bakers twine. Black pearls added on for interest.

Sentiment is from Papetrey, Ink.

Adding thins to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge. This week its anything goes.

Thanks for stopping by!

Let's chill

Hey everyone! Whipped this card up this evening to play along with the Paper Smooches Sparks sketch challenge. Here is the link to the blog challenge and sketch.

This is the second card I made for this challenge because the first one was pretty ugly! I like how this one a lot better!

Stamps are of course from Paper Smooches. Mr. Snowman is colored with Copic's. I added some tiny red self adhesive red pearls for his buttons.

Using the EK Success snowflake punch I punched out one white snowflake and added some distress rock candy glitter to it. The second snowflake used a die and some metallic green cardstock. Both are popped up using foam tape.

That's it for today! Thanks for stopping in!

Bokeh technique thank you

Hi everyone! I had a chance yesterday to play around with the new technique that is being featured over on The Friday Mashup! It's called Bokeh and you can find the video here. I used this weeks sketch over at Less is More to put it all together.

Regular water color paints and water color paper used to create the background. I ended up making my own circle stencil (even though I have about 3) using some acetate and circle nesties. I spread out the circles on the acetate so that it would be easier to use the dauber and white craft ink. The stencils that I have are all polka dot and I would have had to mask way too many of them. It was just way easier to create my own.

Sentiment is from Wplus9. Ended up adding some black splotches onto this using the Tim Holtz marker spritzer tool. To get the bottom tag to stand out, I sponged some thistle colored ink around the edges. Die is from MFT and I used a rectangle nestie to cut and emboss the main image.

Well, that is it for today. I desperately need to clean up my craft area. Talk about clutter! Ugh!

Clean and Simple 303 - seriously

Hi everyone! I really liked this CAS sketch #303 and had to give it a try.  Here is what I came up with!

I used some molding paste and a stencil from The Crafters Workshop to get the texture on the back ground. Once dry I dusted it with gold mica powder to give it some sparkle.

The seriously die and the awesome sentiment are from Lil' Inker Designs. I used the fishtail banner die from MFT to cut out the "awesome" and then popped it up using foam tape.

The old Sizzix primitive star die is used to cut out three stars using a thin piece of chip board. I glued them all together and then added the gold mirror cardstock. This gave it a bit of depth and thickness which was easier to pop up on foam tape.

Thanks for popping in! Have a great weekend!

Thanks a latte!

Good afternoon! Here is my take on this weeks Freshly Made Sketch #150.

I paired it with the CASology cue card JAVA

Coffee cups are stamped, heat embossed with clear embossing powder, colored with Copic's and then fussy cut. I popped them up using different thicknesses of foam tape. Back coffee cup is from Gina K and the smaller one is from PTI. I also did a bit of paper piecing on them.

The coffee stains were done using a stencil from Crafters Workshop and Vintage Photo distress ink. Then I ran it through my crimper so that it would resemble a coffee sleave.

Sentiment is from Gina K.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

I don't know

Hello all! Here's a card I put together after practicing coloring with Copic's.

I don't know why I chose the colors I did for her dress. I think this might have been colored around St. Patrick's day. It's been in my stash for a while.

Top note die used on the back ground after I fussy cut her out. She is from Saturated Canary.

Polka dot designer paper is from PTI.

Anyone know of any challenges this one might fit under?

OK, I'll keep it short and sweet today! Thanks for stopping in!

Nuts

Hi everyone! Less is more's theme this week is Animals! Here is what I did with it!

Mr. Squirrel is from an old set by the former Angel Company. He's colored with Copic's and then cut out using the square nesties. Dark brown cardstock is layered behind.

Below is the inside of the card. I ended up using Prismacolor pencils and blending with OMS on the acorns so that it wouldn't bleed through on the back of the card.

Kept this one super clean and simple so that it could be used for a guy or either way, I guess.

That's all for today! Thanks for stopping by!

Blue present

Hi everyone! Here is what I did with this weeks freshly made sketch.

My picture is awful! The designer paper is actually a really pretty blue. It's from Michaels Reflection line.

Stamps are from Technique Tuesday. I fussy cut the present out twice and did a bit of paper piecing, then popped it up using foam tape.

Stitched border die is from Lil' Inkers. I also ended up adding some stitching to the blue layers in the back using one of the bigger dies that comes in the set. To get it to hold still and line up, I used some washi tape to hold the die face up. Then ran the blue paper through the CB.

That's it for today! Camping didn't end up happening due to the water pump going out in the RV. Glad we found it now before we go on our week long adventure early in September.

Have a great weekend!

Sail away with me

Hi everyone! I'm not going to have time this week to participate in any challenges until maybe Sunday. So, here's a card I made a while ago and never got around to posting.

Stamps are from Gina K Designs. The sail boat is colored with Copic's.

To create the sea I sponged on several different colors of blue and turquoise inks using a finger dauber. I tore a piece of printer paper so that I could make some "waves" while sponging on the ink. I finally added some foam on the water using Copic Opaque white and a white sharpie paint pen.

Sky is also sponged using Memento sky ink and a finger dauber. A light touch with the inking around the Picasso stencil cloud was used to make the clouds very subtle in the back ground.

We are off in the RV for a weekend of camping. Thanks for stopping by!

Cupcakes and wine

Hello! I hope this finds everyone doing well. I'm sweating it out in 94 degree heat (hotter in the upstairs studio) without air conditioning. Thank goodness its supposed to rain the next few days! We need it!

Here is my take on today's Mojo Monday Sketch.

Stamp is from Stamping Bella - Uptown Girls Felicity and Blair. They are colored with Copic's and I also added a bit of pink glitter to the frosting on the cupcakes.

Designer paper is from Reflections and Lasting Impressions. Decided to go with rick rack instead of scallops as the sketch called for.

Happy Birthday sentiment is from PTI and the fishtail banner die used to cut it out is from MFT. White rose is a dollar bin find at Michaels and the leaf is punched in green using the punch from Martha Stewart crafts.

That's all for today! Thanks for popping in!
